The RI Philharmonic Youth Summer Wind Ensemble Performs with the East Bay Summer Youth Wind Ensemble at the Seekonk Public Library Meadows

In June, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Summer Wind Ensemble (RIPYSWE) performed its first concert at the Seekonk Public Library Meadows. Students from the Music School bonded with students from the East Bay Summer Youth Wind Ensemble (EBSWE). The conductors, Mr. David Marshall of Somerset High School and the EBSWE Music Director, and Dr. Robert Franzblau, Director of Bands at Rhode Island College, led all 125 students in a rousing and energetic performance. While rain cut the concert short, we still enjoyed a wonderful evening of music making. We hope that this will be the first of many joint RIPYSWE & EBSWE performances.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble is an audition-based youth ensemble that rehearses from September through May on Wednesday evenings. This is perfect for our collaboration with East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble which rehearses from May through August. We encourage our students to play year round and participate in both groups.

We would like to thank Mr. David Marshall for his support, taking care of the percussion instruments and making this concert a reality. We are thrilled that guest conductor Dr. Rob Franzblau was able to work with our students, standing in for RIPYSWE Director, Dr. David Neves.

Thank you to everyone who participated and all those who came out to hear an amazing concert!
