Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School Winter 2017 Concerts

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS

            The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras (RIPYO) presents its second concert of the season on Sunday, January 22 at 3:00pm at The VETS in Providence. The concert features the top-level Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Alexey Shabalin, Repertory Orchestra under the direction of Vincent Mattera, and String Orchestra under the direction of Irina Naryshkova. Tickets are $11 for adults, $6 for students, 18 and under, and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the door on the day of the performance.

The Symphony Orchestra will feature guest conductor, Larry Rachleff, in its performance of the second movement of Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony.”  Maestro Rachleff appears as a special guest in this concert as he completes his final season with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. Rachleff will conduct the Symphony Orchestra once more in its February Side-by-Side performance of Stravinsky’s Finale to the “Firebird Suite” with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra.

RIPYO provides a quality orchestral rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. Students range in grade from elementary school through high school. YOUTH WIND ENSEMBLES

 The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) present its first full concert of the season Tuesday, January 24 at 7:15 pm at East Providence High School. The concert will include RIPYWE Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. David Neves, and RIPYWE Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Aaron W. Bush. Tickets are $11 for adults, $6 for students, 18 and under, and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the door on the day of the performance.

RIPYWE provides a quality wind ensemble rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and Massachusetts. RIPYWE Symphonic Winds is designed for advanced middle school and high school students and Wind Ensemble is for intermediate to advanced middle and high school students. The majority of Philharmonic Music School programs take place at the state-of-the-art Carter Center in East Providence.
